HOMECOMING SUMMIT FOR FORMER CHIEF EXECUTIVES OF THE ASSEMBLY HELD.

Hon. Iddrisu Musah, Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Assembly yesterday hosted all but one former Chief Executive Officers of the Assembly.

The maiden homecoming summit afforded these former leaders and the current Mayor the opportunity to solidarize, share experiences and best practices during their respective tenure of office some of which could be replicated for the greater "Tamale Project". The "Tamale Project connotes the conscious execution of the various planned programs and activities of the Assembly geared towards improving upon the living conditions of the people.

In attendance were Alhaji Abdulai Yahaya. He was in-charge of affairs at the Assembly from 1969-1972, Alhaji W.W.Zakari, from 1985-1987, Alhaji Iddrisu Ishmael Adam, from 1987-1990, Ambassador Abdulai Salifu, from1990-1993, Alhaji A.Y.M.B. Ibrahimah, from 1993-1999 and Hon. Mohammed A. Adams, from 1999-2000.

The rest are Hon. Prince Imoro Andani, from 2002-2002, Hon. Iddrisu Adam, from 2002-2005, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, from 2007-2009 and Alhaji Abdulai Haruna Friday, from 2009-2012. Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Hanan Gundadoo, from 2012-2016 did not attend.

The former Chief Executive Officers agreed in principle to meet periodically and for the group to also serve as a standing advisory body to the Office of the Metropolitan Chief Executive.

The meeting also discussed the falling standard of education at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) level and the increasing rate of indiscipline and lawlessness among the youth in particular in Tamale and urged the Metropolitan Assembly and the current MCE in particular to consider the holding of a colloquium on education and engagement with all stakeholders including Chiefs in a bit to deal decisively with the two issues respectfully.
