Officials of the Volta Flood and Drought Management, a Non-Governmental Organisation, this morning paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Tamale, Hon Sule Salifu at the start of an unspecified number of days’ tour of the metropolis.
According to the team leader, the organization is targeting its project communities in the metropolis to build their capacity on integrating flood and drought management and related issues, including early warning signals for climate change.
In his welcome remarks, the mayor was grateful for the visit. Responding to the disclosure about planned intervention, Hon. Sule Salifu explained that the intervention couldn’t have come at a more opportune time and therefore thanked them for the initiative which is apparently aimed at complementing government’s program implementation to metigate the obvious devastating impact of climate change conditions. He therefore assured them of the assembly’s unconditional support in this fight. Present at the meeting was the Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Mr Gilbert B Nuuri-Teg.
