Key function of the Department
Advice the metropolitan Assembly on matters related to Agricultural development in the Metropolis.
Develop work plans and budgets in line with national policies for implementation in the Metropolis.
Prepare and submit quarterly and annual reports on the implementation of activities projects and programmes to the Metropolitan Assembly.
Design and provide extension service in the areas of crops and livestock production, natural resource management, rural infrastructural and small-scale irrigation to famers in the metropolis.
Liaise with other extension service delivering organizations in the metropolis for harmonization.
Development of early warming systems on crops and livestock disease.
Facilitate and carryout vaccination and immunization of livestock within the metropolis.
Facilitate the development of animal health service delivering to clients.
Supervise and ensure quality service delivering to clients.
