“As part of my commitment to proactive governance and effective oversight, I today undertook an unannounced working inspection of selected sections of the Aboabo Market to assess sanitation standards, operational conditions, and compliance with public health regulations.
During the inspection, I observed with grave concern the deplorable sanitary condition of a public toilet facility within the market. In the interest of public health and safety, I directed its immediate closure pending the execution of the necessary remedial measures and full compliance with the required sanitation standards.
The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly remains resolute in its commitment to promoting environmental cleanliness and safeguarding the health and well-being of residents. Operators of public facilities are reminded that maintaining acceptable standards of hygiene is not optional but a fundamental responsibility.
This inspection forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen monitoring and enforcement across the metropolis.
