At an expanded stakeholders meeting held today ahead of the upcoming national sanitation day event on Saturday, the MCD, Mr.Jimah Yakubu reiterated the call for renewed energy and commitment,highlighting our individual and collective responsibility to ensure environmental cleanliness across the metropolis. The call followed an earlier engagement held a couple of days ago to rollout strategies to whip up interest and participation of residents in cleanup campaigns.

Heads of the 3 working groups that were inaugurated during the previous meeting apparently took turns to share their views on the enforcement bid of the exercise. The first to speak was the metro police commander who proposed the closure of all shops in the catchment area for the entire duration of the clean up exercise and that punitive measures including fines be taken against individuals who may want to flout the orders
