Bishop of Munster City Calls on Mayor of Tamale.

The mayor of Tamale, Hon. Sule Salifu today, Monday, the 20th of February ,2023 received a high-powered delegation from the German city of Muster in the North-Rhine Westphalian Region. The team was led by the Catholic Bishop of Munster, Dr Felix Genn, who was there in the company of Hans-Bernd KÖPPEN ,addressed as the Cathedral provost or the Dome probst.

Other members of the delegation include
Maria Bubenitschek-Director of pastoral Care, Ulrich Hörsting-Administrator,
Dr. Stephan Kronenburg-Office of the media, Dr. Antonius Hamers-Representative of the province of Koeln at the seat of NRW, Judith Wuelhorst-Director for World Church,
Rev. Fr. Hans-Michael Huerter-Director for Missions, Justice and Peace, with
Christa Kortwinkel and
Jörg Niemeier as Members .

The team is in Tamale to participate in the 40th anniversary of the partnership of the two dioceses. You would recall that, the Tamale Metro Assembly is also into sister city relationships with the city of Munster in Germany. And for the records, it is instructive to note that the two cities have since visited each other in their respective cities with significant fond memories of far -reaching development cooperation and agreements for the mutual benefits of the partner cities as well as the people and governments.
The Mayor of Tamale, in his welcome remarks , expressed gratitude for the visit and commended leadership of the catholic church for what he described as numerous development interventions the church has brought to improve the living conditions of residents of Tamale and other parts of the country.

Pursuance to the cooperation agreement signed by the authorities of the partner cities, the meeting ,among other things ,emphasized the need to strengthen the existing relationship for the benefits of our people.

The delegation was joined by their Ghanaian counterparts as follows:

Most Rev. Philip Naameh-Archbishop of Tamale, Most Rev. Peter Paul Angkyier-Bishop of Damongo, Most Rev. Matthew Yitiereh-Bishop of Yendi.

Also present at the meeting was Rev. Fr Hilary Pogbeyir-Vicar General.
