Management of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly through a well constituted taskforce yesterday 17th June,2026 began limited decongestion exercise targeting the central market.
The taskforce consists of the police, Ghana Fire Service,Assembly local taskforce and staff of the key implementing units of the Assembly namely Physical planning, works,building inspectorate, as well as central sub-metro.
The exercise is aimed at creating access routes inside the market and consolidating existing ones. This follows recommendations of the personnel of the Ghana Fire Service operating in the market based on risk assessment conducted.The move ,according to expert will enhance rescue operations as it facilitates deployment of fire tenders in the event of market fires.
