The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, TaMA has today, mobilized Zoomlion trucks for deployment to evacuate the accumulated but contentious refuse located along the Nyohini – stadium road.
The otherwise approved dumping site has for the past several weeks, been in the media space for the wrong reason. This followed attempts by a few prominent individuals to relocate the communal waste container for personal score, which attempt was met with some resistance resulting in community members dumping their refuse in the bare floor. The accumulated refuse generated public outcry, thereby bringing undue pressure to bear on the Assembly.
Speaking at the site, a cross section of the community members, expressed their joy and commended the Assembly for the intervention. They however warned against any ploy to relocate the communal waste container that was originally designated.
In all 9 trucks, including a payloader were mobilized to site for the exercise.
