Ghana Education service officials and the Mayor Tours Examination Centres in Tamale As BECE Starts Today-15th November, 2021

 

The Mayor of Tamale has began his tour of the examination centers in Tamale ahead of the start of the BECE with officials of GES
He is scheduled to visit the SDA, GHANASCO, VITTIN, ST CHARLES among other centres
The purpose of the visit is to assess the level of preparation for the exams in terms of timely arrival of examination materials at the exam centres and more importantly psych the candidates up. Hon. Sule Salifu also used the platform to extend to the candidates, goodwill messages shared by the president of the Republic, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on this occasion. At SDA the Mayor, Hon. Sule Salifu reminded them of the Nana Addo led-government’s Free Senior High School policy aimed at giving all Ghanaian school-going children, the benefits of secondary education under the policy. The Mayor therefore urged them to take full advantage of the policy intervention.
In all 6, 018 candidates were registered and sitting for this year’s BECE, consisting 126 schools and 25 examination centers across the Metropolis.
Intems of gender segregation, of this figure, 3079 were girls and the rest of the 2, 939 were boys.
At St Charles centre, a female candidate was reportedly absent but the invigilating officials were unable to assign any reason for that. When team got to the Ambariyya JHS centre, it was disclosed that 7 candidates were absent out of which one was a girl. Like the previous case, no reason was officially advanced for that situation.
The Mayor had to end his tour at the Ambariyya JHS centre where he addressed the media.
