Hon. Sule Salifu, Mayor of Tamale today paid a working visit to Zujung Cemetery in Tamale, which is one of the several final resting places for humankind.
The visit formed part of his community engagement tour of the metropolis. Speaking to 2 separate groups working at the cemetery, majority of whom were young people, Hon. Sule Salifu recognized the great sacrifices these selfless individuals have made and continue to make in providing befitting final resting places to deceased relations, including loved ones, a service they render in a spirit of volunteerism without discrimination.
Mayor Sule bemoaned the challenging conditions endured by the group over the years.
Presenting an undisclosed amount of money and alcohol-based hand sanitizers each to the 2 groups on separate platforms, Hon. Sule Salifu conveyed the goodwill message of His Excellency, Naa Addo Dankwa, Akufo-Ado, President of the Republic of Ghana in appreciation of their sacrifices.
He used the occasion to appeal to corporate bodies, political Appointees and philanthropic institutions to come to the aid of these selfless individuals in meeting their needs. Describing his visit as unprecedented, the recipients were very much grateful to the Mayor. One of the leaders championing the cemetery fence wall projects, Alhaji Kisco recounted their longstanding relationship with the Mayor and similar financial support packages given them long before his appointment to this high office. They prayed for His abundant grace in the discharge of his official duties as the Mayor.
