Some community members and other road users within Kalariga, Zogbeli, Lamashegu, and Aboabo, of the Tamale Metropolis, have expressed gratitude to the Mayor of Tamale Sule Salifu, for leading efforts at restoring nonfunctional street lights along some major roads within their localities.
According to them, the replacement of the street lights on the major ring road and their communities, will not only improve visibility at night, but will go a long way to reduce crime on the roads.
Some of the residents told Diamondfmonline.com that the streetlights at their areas had been nonfunctional for several years thereby contributing to the increasing crime wave at their communities within the Metropolis especially at night.
“Our business activities on the dark stretch are just for our survival even as we pay the heavy price in the hands of criminals who constantly attack people here”, a resident narrated.
“We are grateful to Sule Salifu for attending to our concerns. Many people have lost their properties on some of the roads as a result of the darkness”, a resident appreciated.
“I think, replacing these nonfunctioning streetlights would enhance our economic activities at night”, another resident said.
Management of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TaMA) led by Mayor Sule Salifu, for the past few days, has begun restoring nonfunctional street lights along some principal streets and communities within the greater Tamale to improve visibility at night.
