Bus Rapid Transit Services Operationalised in Tamale*

As part of efforts by the government to promote a robust public transport system across the country, government is operationalizing the services of bus Rapid Transit Services popularly called Aayalolo, in the greater Tamale area.

This was made known today by the Northern Regional Minister, Hon Alhaji Shani Alhassan Sayibu at a short ceremony ahead of full operations slated for 17th of this month.
Speaking at the ceremony, the minister added information about deployment details as well as number of buses. He mentioned in particular, that the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, NRCC has so far taken delivery of 5 buses to start with.

Subsequently, Hon. Alhaji Shani who was in the company of the Mayor of Tamale, Hon Sule Salifu and other key sector players( state and non-state actors) conducted a test drive through identifiable routes in the catchment area.

Further deployment details and pickup points are as follows:
Tamale Interchange to T’Poly, Point 7 to Vitting and Anbariya Secondary School, PK Gombillah to Savelugu, Quality First to UDS Tamale Campus and from Aboabo Commercial Bank to Nyankpala.
