In a significant step toward strengthening agricultural productivity in the Northern Region, the Mayor of Tamale today,8th September 2025 distributed 400 bags of NPK 15-15-15 fertilizer to 200 farmers across the Tamale Metropolis. Hon Abu Takoro used the occasion to acknowledge the Hon.Agric minister,Hon. Eric Opoku( MP) for his generousity in supprt of this initiative.
Each beneficiary received a minimum of two bags, aimed at supporting their farming activities for the current crop season.
This intervention forms part of a broader strategy to increase crop yields, ensure food security, and improve the livelihoods of farming households
within the metropolis. By equipping farmers with essential inputs, the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly is working to empower local communities and stimulate economic growth from the grassroots level.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Mayor emphasized that this initiative is not an isolated event, but part of a larger, long-term vision to reposition Tamale as a hub of sustainable agriculture and rural development.
The Resetting Agenda is not just a slogan—it is a call to meaningful action. Today’s support to our hardworking farmers is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to transforming words into real impact. When we empower our farmers, we invest in the future of our people and our city.
The Mayor reaffirmed the Assembly’s dedication to supporting the agricultural sector through continued investment in inputs, training, and infrastructure, with the ultimate goal of building a resilient and self-sufficient local economy.
