
The Mayor of Tamale, Hon. Abubakari Adam Takoro, has undertaken an extensive inspection of ongoing development projects across the Tamale Metropolis. The inspection exercise, conducted on April 2, 2026, aimed to ensure quality delivery and timely completion of critical infrastructure.
Accompanied by key management staff, the Mayor visited several strategic projects, including the proposed 24-hour economy model market at Kukuo, a flagship initiative expected to boost local commerce. He also inspected ongoing construction works at the Aboabo and Lamashegu Markets, where new stores are being developed.

The Mayor’s tour also covered educational infrastructure projects, such as a two-unit kindergarten classroom block at Lamashegu Primary School and a three-unit classroom block at Dalogyili. These projects aim to improve access to quality basic education and create a conducive learning environment.
Hon. Takoro expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, noting that most projects are at advanced stages, with some nearing completion. He charged contractors to intensify efforts and ensure timely completion without compromising on quality standards.

The Mayor emphasized that these projects align with the Government’s Resetting Agenda, seeking to revitalize infrastructure, strengthen local economies, and improve the quality of life for citizens. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to delivering impactful development across all communities.
The inspection exercise underscores the Assembly’s proactive approach to governance and its determination to ensure public resources are effectively utilized. The Mayor’s office will continue to monitor progress, ensuring that projects meet the required standards.
